The best part about working here at Beth Millner Jewelry is being the first eyes on new pieces, which made picking out my favorites for this winter so hard! But, eventually, I narrowed it down to two of our unique stone pieces.
One of my picks for this winter is No. 9 from the Northern Lights Pendants! These pendants were our number-one collection of 2023, and for good reason. All of these pendants have a one-of-a-kind flash from the Labradorite stone; the most common colors are blue, green, and yellow/gold. Once in a while, we get a stone with rare colors, like purple or pink. But, No. 9? She was orange! A stunning, warm orange...my favorite color! While the cool, dull gray light of January simply doesn't do the labradorescence justice - its coveted color more than makes up for it.
Not to mention, it felt right to pick a Northern Lights pendant as 2024 is supposed to be one of the best years to watch the auroras! I haven't seen the northern lights since I was a kid, so I'm hoping this year I'll get to see some stunning colors in the sky!
My second pick is the Lake Superior Agate Cuff No. 3! The bracelets and cuffs we offer are some of my favorite pieces in-store, but No. 3 is by far my favorite! The pattern on this stone is front and center. In person, it almost looks like ice crystals are forming within the stone. I also love the white eyes spattering the agate and its rich, orange color! These two pieces would make a great pair.
There's also something special about the way agates are formed. Their story started over one billion years ago with lava cascading over this region. One billion years of fire and ice and minerals and layering! Then, even more years of it laying the water just waiting to be found by chance...whoa! How cool is it to have a piece of the past, right there on your wrist? The only reason I haven't snatched it up for myself is the size medium cuff is just a touch too tight for my wrist!
